You can so many things with the tool such as converting a DV file from type 1 to type 2, converting a non DV file into a DV file, converting a DV file from PAL to NTSC, create subtitle files with accurate datecodes, fix a bad framerate and so on.
It also has a built in AVI player that allows easy browsing through the video using keyboard shortcuts. DVdate displays also complete information about the AVI file. Like the utility Gspot, it indicates the codec, the image size, the number of frames per second, the duration of the video etc.
It is definitely a useful tool for video enthusiasts who work with AVI DV files, however it is only free for non-commercial use.
